What the level means

What Level 2 means

Level 2 is the level of GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C). It also includes intermediate apprenticeships, level 2 functional skills and level 2 NVQs.

A levels and T Levels are one level up, at Level 3.

A Level 2 award, certificate and diploma all sit at Level 2. They can cover different amounts, but the level is the same. AS and A levels, for example, are both Level 3, but an A level covers more.

RQF stands for the Regulated Qualifications Framework. It is the scale of levels on Ofqual’s register, and it has nine, from entry level to Level 8.

To be clear about who does what: Zavmo is not an awarding body, is not an approved centre. It does the teaching and the mapping. The awarding body sets these qualifications and awards them, and a qualified human assessor makes the assessment decision.
