It closes the gap Bloom found forty years ago
In 1984 the educational researcher Benjamin Bloom published a result that has bothered the field ever since: students taught one to one, by a tutor who adapted to them, performed about two standard deviations better than students taught the same material in a normal class. That is enough to move a middling student to near the top of the group. The catch, and the reason you have probably never had a tutor, is that one tutor per person has never been affordable for anyone but the wealthy. Everything else in this list follows from trying to close that gap.

It starts from a job, not a course catalogue
You name the role you are in or the one you want. Zavmo works out what that job actually needs, and builds from there. You are not picking from whatever somebody happened to make a course about.

Every lesson is a conversation with a guide who asks, listens and pushes back. You have to put the idea into your own words and defend it, which is a far harder test than recognising the right answer in a list, and a far better predictor of whether you can actually do it on Monday.

It is built for how you learn, not the average learner
Pace, structure, how much text at once, how often things change: these adapt to you. If you are dyslexic, autistic, have ADHD, or simply know your own way in, that shapes the teaching rather than being an accommodation bolted on at the end.

Your guide changes as the thinking gets harder
The one who explains a new idea is not the one who makes you defend it. Different guides handle different kinds of thinking, and they hand over as you climb from understanding something to being able to judge and build with it.

You finish with proof, not a completion tick
The work you do becomes evidence, checked against what the qualification actually asks for. You end up with something you can show an employer, and where it applies, a qualification employers recognise. Not a certificate that says you attended.

Alongside the role-specific things, it develops the human capabilities that hold their value as the job changes: judgement, framing a problem, explaining a decision to someone who disagrees. Those move with you to the next employer. Most of what training teaches does not.

It knows where you stopped, what you found hard, and what you went off and explored out of interest, and picks the thread back up next session. The record of what you have learned is yours to keep and take with you.
Being straight with you
Bloom's finding was about human tutors, and we are not claiming to have reproduced it. It is the problem we are built around, and the reason the product looks the way it does.
