Handling Damaged Inbound Goods Immediately stop unloading, take photos, and report the damage to your Shipping & Receiving Lead. Do NOT accept the damaged goods without your Lead's instruction. Assess the extent of the damage, determine if it's salvageable or needs to be rejected. Document the damage on the BOL and notify the carrier. Consult with the Supervisor on next steps. Authorise rejection or acceptance of damaged goods based on company policy and financial impact. Initiate a claim with the carrier and coordinate with Procurement/Finance for resolution. Decide if a replacement order is needed.
Prioritising Urgent Shipments Complete your assigned tasks in the order given by your Lead. If an urgent request comes in, you'll wait for your Lead to re-prioritise your tasks. Adjust your own daily task list to accommodate urgent shipments as directed by the Supervisor. You might informally ask a colleague for help if you're swamped, but you'll still follow the Supervisor's overall plan. Re-allocate team resources and adjust the daily work plan to ensure urgent shipments are met without compromising other critical deadlines. This might involve pulling people from other areas or authorising overtime.
Inventory Discrepancies If you can't find an item where the WMS says it should be, or if your count doesn't match, you'll immediately tell your Shipping & Receiving Lead. You won't try to 'fix' it yourself. Investigate minor discrepancies (e.g., searching nearby bins, checking recent transactions) and report findings to the Supervisor. You'll help with the root cause analysis but won't make system adjustments. Approve inventory adjustments in the WMS (within a defined value limit, e.g., up to £500). Conduct root cause analysis for significant discrepancies and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

The percentage of orders you pick where every item and quantity matches the order sheet.

How quickly newly received goods are unloaded, checked, and put into their correct storage location within the warehouse.

A lorry arrives at 9 AM with a standard delivery. We'd expect those goods to be fully put away and scanned into our system by 1 PM at the latest.
