- Mastering end-to-end management of a major reporting stream (e.g., TCFD, CDP), developing strong project management skills, and effectively mentoring junior team members. You'd also need to demonstrate significant process improvement capabilities.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully led 2-3 full reporting cycles for a significant component of our disclosures.
- Consistently received positive feedback on data accuracy and report quality.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex data issues independently.
- Successfully mentored at least two junior analysts, helping them grow their skills.

Lead, Sustainability Reporting (L4)
2-4 yearsSkills to master
- Taking full ownership of the entire annual reporting cycle project plan, becoming the primary contact for external assurance providers, and effectively coordinating across multiple internal departments. You'd also need to show strong leadership potential and the ability to manage small teams or contractors.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully managed the full annual reporting cycle, including external assurance, with minimal oversight.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams to meet data submission deadlines.
- Received excellent feedback from external auditors on the quality of data and documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement significant process efficiencies.

ESG Assurance Manager (from a Big 4 firm)
Direct entry (0-1 year adjustment)Skills to master
- Adapting external audit methodologies to internal corporate processes, understanding internal stakeholder dynamics, and shifting from an assurance mindset to a reporting ownership mindset. You'd bring deep technical assurance knowledge.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully managed multiple ESG assurance engagements for large corporate clients.
- Deep technical knowledge of assurance standards (e.g., ISAE 3000, ISAE 3410).
- Strong client management and communication skills.
- Desire to transition to an in-house role with direct ownership.
