3-5 years in role (after Senior Secretary)Skills to master
- Formal or informal supervision of a small team, workload delegation, basic performance feedback, project coordination, high-level support for senior executives.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully managing the workload and priorities for a small group of secretaries.
- Leading specific administrative projects (e.g., office move coordination, new software pilot).
- Demonstrating strong communication and influencing skills with senior partners.

- Proven track record of managing a diverse administrative team in a professional services environment.
- Strong experience with budget management and cost control.
- Demonstrated ability to implement operational improvements across an office.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, dealing with senior leadership and external suppliers.
