How you become one varies far more by country than what one does. This is the UK route. Most people take one of these ways in; the right one depends on where you're starting from.

You're ready to move on when
- Consistently accurate and timely completion of all administrative tasks.
- Proactively identifying minor issues and suggesting solutions (even small ones).
- Demonstrating a solid understanding of our internal H&S procedures and systems.

Apprenticeship Programme
1-2 years in role (post-apprenticeship)Skills to master
- Applying theoretical H&S knowledge to practical workplace scenarios, developing independent problem-solving skills within defined parameters.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully completing all apprenticeship modules and practical assessments.
- Taking ownership of specific H&S administrative workstreams with minimal supervision.
- Building good working relationships with Facilities Managers and contractors.

General Administrative / Office Support Role
1-2 years in roleSkills to master
- Transferring existing organisational and communication skills to the specific context of H&S, learning industry-specific terminology and compliance requirements.
You're ready to move on when
- Quickly adapting to H&S specific software and documentation standards.
- Demonstrating a keen interest in H&S beyond just the administrative tasks.
- Successfully managing a higher volume of H&S-related administrative tasks.
