You're ready to move on when
- Successfully led 3+ significant quality improvement projects with measurable impact.
- Consistently received positive feedback on mentorship and team collaboration.
- Proactively identified and resolved systemic quality issues, not just individual defects.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills, including presenting to mid-level management.

Lead Quality Engineer (External Hire)
Coming in from a Lead or Principal Quality Engineer role at a similar-sized company (8-12 years total experience)Skills to master
- You'd need to bring a proven track record of designing quality systems, acting as a technical SME for a major quality area (like validation or SPC), and some experience with informal team leadership or project management. We'd be looking for strong technical depth.
You're ready to move on when
- Managed a significant quality workstream or programme end-to-end.
- Acted as a go-to expert for a specific quality methodology or regulatory standard.
- Some experience in coaching or guiding more junior team members.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct reporting lines.

Quality Manager (Smaller Company)
Coming from a Quality Manager role at a smaller organisation (10-14 years total experience)Skills to master
- You'd need to demonstrate that your previous management experience is scalable to our larger, more complex global environment. This means showing strong people management skills, budget management, and a solid understanding of a comprehensive QMS. We'd be assessing your ability to step up.
You're ready to move on when
- Managed a team of 2+ quality professionals for at least 3 years.
- Owned a site-level QMS and successfully navigated external audits.
- Managed a quality department budget.
- Demonstrated strong leadership and problem-solving skills in a managerial context.
