- Can clearly articulate the 'why' behind safety rules to frontline staff.

3-5 yearsSkills to master
- Operational risk identification, leading toolbox talks, managing team safety performance, understanding production pressures, basic incident response.
You're ready to move on when
- Has a strong track record of improving safety within their team/area.
- Demonstrates excellent understanding of operational processes and associated risks.
- Is seen as a 'safety champion' among their peers and team.
- Has completed relevant H&S qualifications (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely) alongside their supervisory role.

Military EHS / Health & Safety NCO
2-4 years (post-service)Skills to master
- Risk assessment in dynamic environments, emergency response, compliance with strict procedures, leadership in safety situations, training delivery.

- Can translate military H&S experience into a civilian operational context.
- Demonstrates strong discipline and adherence to safety protocols.
- Proven ability to lead and train teams on safety procedures.
- Has undertaken civilian H&S qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate) post-service.
