- You'd need to have truly mastered end-to-end process ownership, consistently identifying and implementing process improvements, and handling non-routine employee cases with sound judgment. Demonstrating informal mentorship of junior colleagues is also key.
You're ready to move on when
- You're the go-to person for complex queries within your current scope.
- You've successfully led at least two significant HR operational initiatives (e.g., a small annual programme, a new policy rollout).
- You consistently provide insightful feedback and support to junior team members.
- You proactively identify and resolve potential compliance issues before they become problems.

HR Generalist (with Ops focus)
4-6 years as an HR GeneralistSkills to master
- You'd need to have developed a strong operational backbone, with deep experience in employee lifecycle management, HRIS usage, and compliance. Experience managing small HR projects and a keen eye for process efficiency would be crucial.
You're ready to move on when
- You've managed the full employee lifecycle for a significant employee population.
- You're highly proficient in HRIS usage, including reporting and basic configuration.
- You've successfully managed at least one major HR programme (e.g., a full annual enrolment cycle).
- You demonstrate strong problem-solving skills for operational HR challenges.

- You'd need to have expanded beyond purely technical HRIS work to understand the full operational context and impact of system decisions on employees and processes. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills would be essential.
