3-5 years as an L3Skills to master
- Mastering multi-site management, leading small project teams, advanced budget control for a portfolio, and proving your ability to mentor junior FMs. You'd be showing you can handle more than just one building.
You're ready to move on when
- Consistently exceeding performance metrics for a complex site or small portfolio.
- Successfully leading a significant CapEx project from start to finish.
- Demonstrating strong leadership potential by effectively mentoring 1-2 junior FMs.
- Proactively identifying and implementing cost-saving or efficiency initiatives.

Operations Manager (with FM exposure)
5-7 years in operations managementSkills to master
- Understanding the operational needs of a business, managing diverse teams, and demonstrating a strong grasp of P&L responsibility. You'd need to pick up the specific nuances of building systems and compliance fairly quickly.
You're ready to move on when
- Proven track record of managing large operational teams and budgets.
- Experience in process optimisation and efficiency improvements.
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of business drivers.
- A clear interest in and understanding of facilities management principles.

Project Manager (FM/Construction focus)
4-6 years managing FM-related projectsSkills to master
- Transitioning from project-specific delivery to ongoing operational management. You'd need to develop skills in team leadership, long-term strategic planning, and day-to-day compliance oversight beyond project scope.

- Successful delivery of complex FM-related construction or fit-out projects.
- Strong understanding of building regulations and project lifecycle.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and external contractors effectively.
- A desire to move into a more sustained operational leadership role.
