You're ready to move on when
- Consistently delivering high-quality PMO outputs for complex workstreams.
- Successfully mentoring 1-2 junior colleagues.
- Proactively identifying and proposing solutions for systemic PMO process issues.
- Demonstrating strong influencing skills with mid-level management.

From Senior Project Manager (external/internal)
3-5 years as a Senior Project ManagerSkills to master
- Shifting from managing a single project to overseeing a portfolio and its governance. This means less 'doing' and more 'governing' and 'influencing'. You'll need to develop a broader, cross-programme perspective.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully delivered multiple complex projects on time and budget.
- Strong understanding of project financials and benefits realisation.
- Experience in managing project-level risks and issues.
- A desire to move into a more strategic, oversight role rather than direct project delivery.

From Business Analyst Lead / Process Improvement Lead
4-6 years in a Lead BA/Process roleSkills to master
- Translating deep process knowledge into effective governance frameworks. You'll need to develop skills in portfolio-level reporting, risk management, and stakeholder influence beyond just requirements gathering or process design.
You're ready to move on when
- Expertise in process mapping and optimisation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience leading small teams or workstreams.
- A keen interest in the 'how' of transformation delivery, not just the 'what'.
