2-3 yearsSkills to master
- Independent troubleshooting of routine incidents, strong command-line proficiency, basic routing/switching config, excellent documentation, and a solid grasp of ITIL processes.
You're ready to move on when
- Consistently resolving P2/P3 incidents without escalation.
- Proactively identifying and suggesting improvements for recurring issues.
- Demonstrating strong ownership of your ticket queue and assigned tasks.
- Starting to informally mentor new joiners or less experienced colleagues.

Junior Network Engineer
3-4 yearsSkills to master
- Network design principles, advanced routing/switching concepts, firewall policy design, basic network automation (Python/Ansible), and participation in network project delivery.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully delivered small-to-medium network projects (e.g., office moves, new VLAN deployments).
- Able to articulate the 'why' behind network design choices, not just the 'how'.
- Comfortable writing and deploying automation scripts for network tasks.
- Actively contributing to design discussions for new network solutions.

IT Systems Administrator (with Network Specialisation)
4-6 yearsSkills to master
- Broader IT infrastructure knowledge (servers, virtualisation, storage), but with a deep specialisation in networking. Ability to troubleshoot end-to-end issues across multiple domains.
You're ready to move on when
- Consistently resolving complex issues that span network, server, and application layers.
- Deep understanding of how applications interact with the network.
- Able to design and implement solutions that integrate network and server components seamlessly.
