- Moving from designing technical solutions to owning the full programme lifecycle, including budget, team management, and strategic stakeholder influence. Less 'how it works', more 'how we make it work for the business'.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully architected and overseen the implementation of 2-3 major MarTech solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional project teams (even without direct reports).
- Proactively identified and proposed solutions for organisational process inefficiencies.
- Consistently sought out opportunities to present to and influence senior leadership.

Senior Marketing Automation Manager (L3) with Programme Focus to Principal, Digital Marketing Transformation (L5)
3-5 years at L3/L4Skills to master
- Scaling from managing a specific platform or project to owning a broader transformation stream. This means developing strong programme management, financial acumen, and people leadership skills.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully managed complex, multi-stage marketing automation projects (e.g., lead scoring refresh, data migration).
- Taken initiative to mentor junior team members and informally lead small teams.
- Developed strong relationships with IT and other key internal partners.
- Consistently delivered projects on time and budget, with clear ROI.

8-12 years in consulting, with 3-5 years at Senior Manager/Principal level.Skills to master
- Transitioning from advising clients to directly owning and being accountable for internal delivery. This means building internal credibility, navigating internal politics, and building a permanent team.
You're ready to move on when
- Led multiple digital transformation engagements for large enterprise clients.
- Managed client relationships and project budgets of significant scale.
- Experienced in building and leading project teams, often with diverse skill sets.
- Strong desire to move from an advisory role to an 'owner-operator' role within an organisation.
