- Foundational legal research, basic drafting, understanding court procedures, time management, and professional conduct. Basically, all the things you learn as a trainee.
You're ready to move on when
- Consistently positive supervisor reviews during your restructuring seat.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and aptitude for insolvency law.
- Ability to manage multiple small tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Strong feedback from partners on your drafting and research skills.

Paralegal (in a Restructuring team)
2-4 years (pre-LPC/SQE)Skills to master
- Document management, eDiscovery processes, basic legal research, preparing court bundles, and supporting fee earners on case administration. You'll get a real feel for the day-to-day.
You're ready to move on when
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proactive in identifying ways to support the team and improve processes.
- Strong understanding of the administrative aspects of restructuring cases.
- Securing a training contract or demonstrating the intent and ability to qualify as a solicitor.

In-house Legal Counsel (Distressed Assets)
2-5 years (post-qualification)Skills to master
- Commercial awareness, risk management from a client perspective, managing external legal counsel, and understanding internal business operations. You'll see the other side of the fence.
You're ready to move on when
- Experience managing external law firms on restructuring matters.
- Strong commercial judgment and understanding of business priorities.
- Ability to translate complex legal advice into practical business solutions.
- A desire to return to private practice for deeper specialisation and client-facing work.
