You're ready to move on when
- Consistently sought out by attorneys for complex matters and advice.
- Has successfully led multiple large-scale projects or managed significant portions of complex cases.
- Has formally mentored at least two junior paralegals who have shown significant growth.
- Has identified and successfully implemented at least one significant process improvement that benefited the team.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills with senior attorneys and management.

From Legal Project Manager
8-10 years in legal project management roles, with paralegal backgroundSkills to master
- Deepening understanding of specific paralegal workflows, gaining experience in direct people management, and translating project management theory into practical legal operations.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully managed large, multi-faceted legal projects from inception to completion.
- Strong understanding of legal department operations and technology.
- Experience working closely with paralegal teams, even if not directly managing them.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive adoption of new processes.

From Paralegal Manager (Smaller Firm/Department)
10-12 years as a paralegal, with 3-5 years in a managerial roleSkills to master
- Scaling management practices to a larger team, adapting to a more complex organisational structure, and managing a larger budget and more diverse legal tech stack.
You're ready to move on when
- Proven track record of successfully managing a paralegal team (even if smaller).
- Experience with budget oversight and vendor management.
- Ability to articulate strategic vision and implement operational improvements.
- Strong references from previous attorneys and team members regarding leadership capabilities.
