- Successfully led a major legal sub-function (e.g., all commercial, product, or regulatory legal affairs) for several years.
- Managed a team of 5+ lawyers and legal professionals.
- Directly advised C-suite executives on complex, high-stakes matters.
- Demonstrated ability to drive legal strategy and operational efficiency.

Partner at a Reputable Law Firm (with in-house secondment experience)
5-10 years as PartnerSkills to master
- Transitioning from client service to internal stakeholder management, developing a deep understanding of a single company's business model, building and managing an in-house team, and adapting to the commercial pressures of an operating business. You'd need to shift from 'advising' to 'owning' the outcome.
You're ready to move on when
- Managed a significant book of business and client relationships.
- Led complex transactions or litigation matters from start to finish.
- Developed strong client management and communication skills.
- Has had at least one long-term secondment (6+ months) in-house, demonstrating an understanding of corporate legal departments.
