- Document review, legal research basics, understanding legal terminology, initial DSAR support, meticulous record-keeping, basic contract analysis.
You're ready to move on when
- You're consistently identifying key privacy clauses in contracts.
- You can independently manage simple DSARs from start to finish.
- You're proactively flagging potential privacy issues in documents or processes.
- You've taken the initiative to complete introductory privacy certifications (e.g., IAPP CIPP/E Foundations).

Junior Privacy Analyst / Coordinator
1-2 years in this role before moving to SpecialistSkills to master
- Data mapping, RoPA maintenance, basic DPIA support, privacy policy implementation, managing consent records, delivering basic training.
You're ready to move on when
- You've taken ownership of the RoPA and ensured its accuracy.
- You can articulate the business impact of privacy policies to non-technical teams.
- You're comfortable using our GRC platform for routine tasks without constant supervision.
- You've shown initiative in proposing minor process improvements for privacy tasks.

Broader Legal Role (with significant privacy exposure)
3-4 years in this role before moving to SpecialistSkills to master
- General contract law, regulatory compliance, legal risk assessment, stakeholder communication, understanding of business operations, project management.
You're ready to move on when
- You've consistently been the 'go-to' person for privacy questions in your previous role.
- You've actively sought out opportunities to work on privacy-related projects or cases.
- You can demonstrate a deep understanding of GDPR and its practical application to business scenarios.
- You've completed at least one IAPP certification (e.g., CIPP/E) off your own back.
