The pathway
How you actually get there, here
How you become one varies far more by country than what one does. This is the UK route. Most people take one of these ways in; the right one depends on where you're starting from.

You're ready to move on when
- Consistently exceeding category savings targets (e.g., £5M+ annually).
- Strong, positive feedback from VPs and Directors on your commercial advice and strategic input.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and close multi-million pound negotiations independently.
- Proven ability to mentor and guide junior colleagues effectively.
- 2
Senior Category Manager (L3)

- Successfully managing a strategic category with £20M+ spend.
- Consistently delivering significant savings and value.
- Positive feedback on your ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership in complex projects or workstreams.
- 3

- Leading large-scale procurement transformation projects for clients.
- Developing and presenting strategic recommendations to C-suite clients.
- Strong track record of delivering measurable cost reduction or value improvement for clients.
