The pathway
How you actually get there, here
How you become one varies far more by country than what one does. This is the UK route. Most people take one of these ways in; the right one depends on where you're starting from.
- 1
Relationship Manager (Level 002)
2-3 yearsSkills to master
- Consistently hitting individual Net New Asset targets, building a solid foundation of client relationships, mastering our core product suite, and becoming proficient in our CRM and reporting tools. You need to prove you can manage your own book first.
You're ready to move on when
- Consistently exceeding £15M in annual Net New Assets for two consecutive years.
- Achieving a client retention rate of 90% or higher on your own book.
- Receiving positive client feedback and referrals.
- Demonstrating proactive problem-solving and independent decision-making on routine client matters.
- 2
Associate Relationship Manager (Level 001)
4-6 yearsSkills to master
- This path is a bit longer, but it's about proving yourself. You'd move from supporting multiple Senior RMs to taking on your own small book, mastering client onboarding, data accuracy, and basic client query resolution. You're learning the ropes from the ground up, basically.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully supporting multiple Senior RMs, consistently delivering accurate client materials and managing administrative tasks efficiently.
- Proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement or client engagement.
- Demonstrating a strong understanding of compliance requirements and internal processes.
