- Independent management of virtual environments, advanced troubleshooting, basic automation scripting (PowerCLI/PowerShell), strong understanding of HA/DR concepts.
You're ready to move on when
- Consistently resolves L2/L3 incidents without escalation.
- Successfully completes routine virtualisation projects (e.g., host patching, VM migrations) on time.
- Proactively identifies areas for efficiency improvements.
- Has started experimenting with IaC tools like Terraform or Ansible in a lab environment.

Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Generalist)
3-5 yearsSkills to master
- Broad infrastructure knowledge (servers, storage, networking), strong scripting skills, experience leading small projects, ability to diagnose cross-domain issues.
You're ready to move on when
- Has deep expertise in at least one other infrastructure domain (e.g., Linux administration, Windows Server).
- Can demonstrate strong automation skills beyond virtualisation.
- Has led infrastructure projects involving multiple technical teams.
- Shows a clear interest and aptitude for specialising in virtualisation.

Cloud Operations Engineer
2-4 yearsSkills to master
- Experience managing IaaS in public cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), strong IaC skills, understanding of cloud networking and security, familiarity with hybrid cloud concepts.
You're ready to move on when
- Proficient in managing virtual machines and related services in a public cloud environment.
- Strong experience with Terraform or similar IaC tools for cloud resource provisioning.
- Understands the differences and similarities between on-premise virtualisation and cloud IaaS.
- Can articulate the benefits and challenges of hybrid cloud architectures.
