You're ready to move on when
- You've successfully architected and delivered multiple complex technical solutions that span different engineering disciplines.
- You're regularly consulted by other senior engineers for your technical expertise and problem-solving abilities.
- You've informally mentored several junior engineers who have shown significant growth under your guidance.
- You've demonstrated the ability to influence technical decisions at a programme level and manage significant technical risks.

Lead Engineer from another highly technical domain
5-7 years in a Lead role, plus 2-3 years cross-training in roboticsSkills to master
- Strong foundational engineering leadership, programme management, and team-building skills, coupled with a rapid acquisition of core robotics domain knowledge (e.g., ROS, control theory, perception).
You're ready to move on when
- You've successfully led large, complex engineering teams and delivered significant projects in a related field (e.g., aerospace, automotive, complex embedded systems).
- You've actively pursued and demonstrated a deep understanding of robotics fundamentals through personal projects, certifications, or dedicated learning.
- Your leadership style is adaptable and proven in fast-paced, technically challenging environments.
- You can articulate how your prior experience directly translates to the unique challenges of robotics management.
