- Deep architectural design for enterprise-wide systems, leading complex technical projects end-to-end, mentoring multiple senior engineers, defining team-level best practices, and influencing cross-functional technical decisions.
You're ready to move on when
- You've successfully led the design and implementation of several critical, large-scale Redis deployments that are now stable in production.
- You're regularly sought out by other teams for your expertise on complex data problems and architectural guidance.
- You've effectively mentored 3+ engineers, helping them grow significantly in their careers.
- You've contributed significantly to the strategic roadmap of the Redis platform, even if you weren't the ultimate decision-maker.

Head of Data Engineering (with Redis Specialisation)
4-6 years in a similar leadership roleSkills to master
- Broader data platform management (databases, data warehouses, streaming), managing larger teams (including other managers), budget ownership across multiple data technologies, and strategic alignment with overall business data initiatives.
You're ready to move on when
- You've managed a team of at least 5-7 engineers, including performance reviews and career development.
- You have a strong understanding of the entire data lifecycle, not just in-memory stores.
- You've successfully managed budgets for technical initiatives.
- You've demonstrated the ability to influence strategy beyond just Redis, impacting broader data architecture.
