- Proactively identifies minor issues in test setups and proposes solutions.
- Takes initiative to learn new test methods and equipment.
- Shows a keen interest in mentoring newer team members.

From Manufacturing Test Technician
3-5 yearsSkills to master
- Adaptation to R&D's unique challenges (prototypes, ambiguity), deeper understanding of product design intent, advanced troubleshooting beyond pass/fail, statistical analysis for R&D data.
You're ready to move on when
- Experience with complex automated test equipment in a production environment.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot production line test failures.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing quality control processes.
- Eagerness to transition from high-volume, routine testing to low-volume, investigative R&D work.

From Field Service Engineer/Technician
3-5 yearsSkills to master
- Translating field failures into lab test conditions, designing accelerated life tests, formal data analysis and reporting, working with early-stage prototypes.
You're ready to move on when
- Extensive experience diagnosing and repairing product failures in the field.
- Deep understanding of real-world product usage and failure modes.
- Ability to work independently and solve problems under pressure.
- Strong desire to influence product design and reliability from the R&D stage.
