The quality and up-to-dateness of your project documentation (plans, risk logs, meeting notes).
Target · 95%+ completeness and accuracy in all project documentation.All meeting minutes from the last month are filed, all action items are assigned and tracked, and the risk register is current with new entries and closed items.
Cross-Functional Communication Clarity
How effectively you communicate project status, risks, and decisions to both technical and non-technical teams.
- Feedback from R&D scientists, Product team, and Finance. Are people understanding your updates? Are they asking fewer clarifying questions? Are they proactively reaching out to you for information? Being able to explain a complex scientific hurdle to the Product team in plain English is key.
Problem-Solving Initiative
Your ability to spot problems early and propose practical solutions, rather than just highlighting issues.
- During project meetings, do you bring solutions to the table, or just problems? Are you suggesting alternative approaches when a hurdle appears? Your manager will look for examples where you've taken the lead to unstick a situation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Trust
Building good working relationships and earning the trust of the project team and other key people.
- Are team members coming to you with issues before they escalate? Do scientists feel you understand their challenges? Are you seen as a reliable source of information, even when the news isn't great? This is about being the person people trust to get things done.
Adaptability to Scientific Changes
How well you adjust project plans when scientific results or new data require a pivot.
- When an experiment yields unexpected results, do you panic or calmly work with the team to revise the plan? Can you quickly re-scope a project without losing momentum? This is less about 'never changing the plan' and more about 'changing the plan intelligently'.
