Laboratory Scientist Apprentice
Upon completion of Level 3/4 apprenticeshipSkills to master
- Deep practical proficiency in a range of lab techniques, understanding of quality systems, problem-solving for minor equipment issues, and effective teamwork.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully completing all apprenticeship modules and assessments.
- Independently performing complex routine assays.
- Demonstrating initiative in identifying and resolving minor lab issues.
- Mentoring newer apprentices or junior staff informally.

Internal Transfer (e.g., Lab Support Assistant)
1-2 years in a support roleSkills to master
- Transitioning from general lab support to specific experimental execution, understanding scientific context, and developing precision in technical tasks.

- Already showing initiative in assisting with more technical tasks.
- Strong understanding of lab layout, inventory, and safety systems.
