5-8 years as a Senior Specialist / Black Belt, then 3-5 years as a Lead OpEx Specialist.Skills to master
- Leading complex Black Belt projects end-to-end, mentoring Green Belts, advanced statistical analysis, strong change management skills, and a proven ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully led 5+ Black Belt projects with validated savings of £250K+ each.
- Mentored at least 2 junior specialists to Green Belt certification.
- Consistently sought out for advice on complex process problems by other departments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets and timelines effectively.

Lead, Operational Excellence
3-5 years as a Lead OpEx, having previously been a Senior Specialist/Black Belt.Skills to master
- Designing and managing a portfolio of improvement projects, developing OpEx programmes, influencing senior stakeholders (VP level), and potentially managing a small team of direct reports or mentees.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully managed a portfolio of 10+ projects, delivering £1M+ in annualised savings.
- Architected a new OpEx programme or methodology that was adopted across a business unit.
- Consistently presented to and influenced VP-level stakeholders on strategic process initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to build and develop a small team or mentor multiple individuals effectively.

Operations Manager (with strong CI focus)
8-12 years in Operations Management roles, with a strong emphasis on process improvement and efficiency.Skills to master
- Deep operational domain expertise, P&L management, team leadership (10+ people), experience driving efficiency within a specific operational function (e.g., logistics, manufacturing), and a strong understanding of Lean/Six Sigma principles applied in practice.
You're ready to move on when
- Managed an operational function with a budget of £5M+ and delivered efficiency improvements.
- Led significant process changes within their operational area that resulted in measurable cost savings or service improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a large team of operational staff.
- Possesses a Green Belt or Black Belt certification and actively applies CI methodologies in their day-to-day role.
