5-8 years as a Senior Producer, demonstrating readiness for leadership and strategic oversight.Skills to master
- Leading complex, multi-track virtual events end-to-end, mentoring junior team members, developing robust contingency plans, and consistently delivering events within budget and to high quality. You'll need to show you can manage projects, not just tasks.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully led multiple flagship virtual events with minimal supervision.
- Consistently received excellent feedback from speakers and internal stakeholders.
- Proactively identified and implemented process improvements for event production.
- Demonstrated informal leadership by mentoring peers or junior producers.
- Presented strategic insights from event performance data to senior management.

Lead Producer / Programme Manager (External Hire)
10-15 years in event production, with a strong emphasis on digital events and leadership experience in a similar agency or corporate setting.Skills to master
- Managing a portfolio of events, overseeing budgets, leading cross-functional teams, and making strategic decisions about event technology and vendor partnerships. You'll need to show you can step in and lead from day one.
You're ready to move on when
- Managed a team of 3+ event professionals in a previous role.
- Owned a significant event budget (e.g., £500K+ annual spend).
- Successfully launched new virtual event formats or platforms.
- Can articulate a clear vision for operational excellence in virtual event production.
- Demonstrated strong negotiation skills with vendors and partners.

Head of Events / Digital Events (Smaller Organisation)
10-15 years, having already managed an entire event function (even if smaller) and built out digital capabilities.Skills to master
- Full P&L responsibility, strategic planning for an entire event calendar, team building from scratch, and integrating events with overall marketing strategy. This shows you've already had broad responsibility.
You're ready to move on when
- Held ultimate accountability for event ROI and budget in a prior role.
- Built or significantly scaled an event programme, particularly digital.
- Strong track record of attracting, developing, and retaining event talent.
- Demonstrated ability to influence executive-level stakeholders.
- Proven ability to adapt and innovate in a rapidly changing event landscape.
