- Strong internal network and ability to get things done cross-functionally.

6-10 years, often with a technical backgroundSkills to master
- Deep technical expertise in a specific product line or manufacturing process, ability to translate technical features into customer benefits, experience supporting field sales teams on complex deals, and a strong understanding of the competitive landscape. You'd need to layer on leadership and sales strategy.
You're ready to move on when
- Frequently sought out by sales reps for technical guidance on complex deals.
- Proven ability to articulate technical value propositions to non-technical buyers.
- Experience leading technical presentations or demonstrations to key clients.
- Demonstrated interest in the commercial side of the business, not just the technical.
- Some experience in project management or coordinating cross-functional efforts.

Internal Sales / Inside Sales Team Lead
6-9 years, often with a focus on process and efficiencySkills to master
- Leading a small team of Inside Sales Reps, driving efficiency in lead qualification and nurturing, strong understanding of CRM and sales automation, and a proven ability to hit targets in a high-volume environment. You'd need to develop field sales experience and strategic planning.

- Successfully managed a small team of 3-5 inside sales reps.
- Consistently exceeded team targets for lead conversion or small deal closure.
- Strong grasp of sales metrics and reporting from a management perspective.
- Demonstrated ability to train and onboard new internal sales staff.
- Expressed a clear desire to move into field sales leadership and manage external teams.
