- Independently resolving a broad range of issues, achieving high FCR, managing your ticket queue efficiently, and demonstrating strong customer service skills. You'll need to show you can take ownership of problems from start to finish.
You're ready to move on when
- Consistently exceeds FCR and CSAT targets for mid-level.
- Regularly handles issues that require adapting standard approaches, not just following scripts.
- Proactively identifies and suggests minor process improvements or knowledge gaps.
- Is often approached by junior colleagues for advice or quick help.

IT Support Role (Specialised)
3-5 yearsSkills to master
- Developing deep expertise in a specific IT domain (e.g., networking, systems administration, application support) within a smaller company or a specialised team. This means you've moved beyond generalist support.
You're ready to move on when
- Recognised as the 'expert' in a particular technical area within your current team.
- Successfully troubleshoots complex issues within your specialisation without escalation.
- Contributes significantly to documentation or process improvements in that specific domain.
- Can clearly articulate the architecture and dependencies of systems within your specialisation.

Technical Role (Non-Support)
4-6 yearsSkills to master
- Moving from a purely reactive support role to a more proactive technical role, perhaps in IT Operations, Junior Systems Admin, or even a QA role. This path requires you to build more hands-on infrastructure or development skills.
You're ready to move on when
- Has taken on projects to automate tasks or improve system reliability.
- Demonstrates strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Python) or a good grasp of infrastructure concepts.
- Actively seeks out opportunities to learn about system architecture and deployment.
- Can articulate how their work impacts broader IT operations beyond just individual user issues.
