This occupational qualification is designed for individuals working in physical treatment within the public services sector. Learners develop competence in managing environmental impact, hazardous waste, health and safety, waste reception, and waste sorting and storage.

What you'll be able to do
- Know the main requirements of health and safety legislation in the waste and resource management industry, including relevant laws, regulations and guidance.
- Understand the hazards, risks, control measures and monitoring associated with a waste and resource management environment, including specific hazards such as moving machinery, hazardous substances and confined spaces.
- Make sure that hazards and risks are controlled safely and effectively on site, by implementing appropriate control measures and monitoring their effectiveness.
- Implement organisational health and safety procedures on site, ensuring that procedures are followed and that staff are trained and competent.
- Monitor and review safety on site, by conducting regular inspections, investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions.
