How you’d get this certificate

  1. Zavmo teaches you. You learn the units one-to-one with an AI tutor, on your own work.
  2. You register with an approved centre. That is a college, training provider or employer Open Awards has approved to offer this qualification. Zavmo is not an approved centre, so you register with them, not with us.
  3. The centre assesses, and Open Awards awards. A qualified assessor at the centre judges your evidence, and the certificate comes from Open Awards.

These are the units Open Awards registers against this qualification. It is a catalogue, not a syllabus. Zavmo teaches towards them on your own work.

You'll gain practical skills to use equipment safely and correctly to build a three-course half brick wall. The unit also covers ensuring the wall is level and plumb, and proper care and storage of equipment.

Exploring Opportunities in Construction and Building Industries Real unit · Open Awards
This unit provides learners with knowledge of various job and voluntary roles within construction and building industries. You'll assess their own skills and attributes relevant to these roles and crafts.

Health and Safety in Construction Trades Real unit · Open Awards
This unit provides learners with foundational knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and safe working practices in construction trades. It includes hazard recognition, accident and emergency procedures, and the importance of following safety protocols.

Introduction to Carpentry and Joinery Real unit · Open Awards
You'll be introduced to the carpentry and joinery sector, gaining knowledge of vocational areas, products, tools, and materials. The unit covers workplace communication, safe working practices, basic problem-solving, and self-assessment of skills and performance.

What you'll be able to do

  • Know about the vocational area of carpentry and joinery.

This unit introduces learners to painting and decorating, covering safe working practices, preparation and maintenance of work areas, correct use and maintenance of tools and equipment, and application of materials to surfaces.

The credits, and who awards them

Entry Level credits are regulated, and they are awarded by Open Awards rather than by Zavmo. They don’t vanish when a subscription ends or a website closes. They travel to any employer, and Zavmo keeps the map of what you have covered and what is next.
