How you’d get this certificate

  1. Zavmo teaches you. You learn the units one-to-one with an AI tutor, on your own work.
  2. You register with an approved centre. That is a college, training provider or employer Open Awards has approved to offer this qualification. Zavmo is not an approved centre, so you register with them, not with us.
  3. The centre assesses, and Open Awards awards. A qualified assessor at the centre judges your evidence, and the certificate comes from Open Awards.

These are the units Open Awards registers against this qualification. It is a catalogue, not a syllabus. Which of them you take depends on the combination the qualification requires, and that is set by the awarding body rather than by us. Every unit here is regulated. Zavmo teaches towards them on your own work.

Zavmo is not an awarding body, is not an approved centre, and is not affiliated with Open Awards. It does the teaching and the mapping. Open Awards sets this qualification and awards it, and a qualified human assessor makes the assessment decision.

This unit develops learners' practical skills to edge lawns, flowerbeds, or shrubbery neatly and to specified standards. You'll use tools correctly, create defined edges, and safely remove and dispose of waste material.

Health and Safety Awareness Real unit · Open Awards
This unit develops learners' awareness of health and safety procedures in the workplace. You'll describe relevant procedures, identify sources of information, explain the importance of compliance, and observe safe working practices to recognise potential hazards and consequences of non-adherence.

Insert Plant Material Real unit · Open Awards
It teaches you to insert plant material correctly using specified techniques. You'll follow instructions and specifications to ensure the inserted material meets required standards.

Introduction to Customer Care Real unit · Open Awards
You'll understand the concept and importance of customer care in the workplace. They will recognise their own role and responsibilities in providing customer care and demonstrate appropriate behaviour when interacting with customers.

Introduction to the Propagation of Plants Real unit · Open Awards
You'll recognise different forms and sources of embryo plants and understand the importance of appropriate planting techniques. This includes correct depth, spacing, support, and protection to ensure successful propagation.

Maintain a Fence Real unit · Open Awards
You'll learn to maintain fences safely and to a satisfactory standard. They will identify defects, carry out repairs, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and recognise potential hazards during maintenance tasks.

Maintain a Footpath Real unit · Open Awards
You'll gain skills to maintain footpaths by identifying defects and hazards, carrying out minor repairs, clearing debris, and applying appropriate materials. They will work safely in accordance with relevant health and safety legislation.

Prepare and Plant an Area Real unit · Open Awards
It teaches you to prepare an area for planting by assessing and improving soil conditions. You'll select and plant suitable plants, seeds, or bulbs with correct depth and spacing, maintaining a safe and tidy working environment.

Weed a Planted Area Real unit · Open Awards

05The credits

The credits, and who awards them

Entry Level credits are regulated, and they are awarded by Open Awards rather than by Zavmo. They don’t vanish when a subscription ends or a website closes. They travel to any employer, and Zavmo keeps the map of what you have covered and what is next.

You are not assessed on remembering this. You are assessed on applying it, analysing it, evaluating it and producing something. So that is what the practice is: projects, role play and your own live cases, with a tutor in the room.
