- Mastering end-to-end project management, structuring complex problems, leading project teams, and effectively managing client relationships at the Director/VP level. You'll need to show you can consistently deliver high-quality strategic advice and start identifying new project opportunities.
You're ready to move on when
- Consistently delivering projects on time and budget with high client satisfaction.
- Successfully leading and developing 2-3 junior consultants.
- Proactively identifying and scoping new project opportunities with existing clients.
- Demonstrating strong political acumen and ability to influence senior stakeholders.

Senior Manager / Principal from a Top-Tier External Consulting Firm
10-15 years in external consultingSkills to master
- Adapting to an internal corporate environment, building long-term internal client relationships (rather than project-based), and understanding our company's specific culture and political landscape. You'll need to translate your external consulting skills to our unique context.
You're ready to move on when
- Proven track record of managing large, complex client engagements and teams.
- Demonstrated ability to 'sell' new business and nurture client relationships.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- A clear understanding of the nuances of internal vs. external consulting.

5-8 years in such rolesSkills to master
- Bringing deep functional or industry expertise, coupled with a strong strategic mindset and experience in driving significant change programmes. You'll need to demonstrate a consulting-style approach to problem-solving and a track record of influencing at senior levels.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully led significant strategic initiatives or transformation programmes.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and influencing without direct authority.
- Strong understanding of business unit P&L and strategic drivers.
- Ability to articulate complex problems and solutions clearly to executive audiences.
