- Has actively contributed to the operational aspects of their applications (e.g., logging, monitoring, deployment).
- Shows a strong desire to move into infrastructure and automation, not just application development.
- Has taken initiative to learn core DevOps tools (Terraform, Kubernetes) in their own time.
- Understands the trade-offs between application features and operational burden.

Senior System Administrator / Cloud Engineer
3-4 years in a Senior SysAdmin/Cloud roleSkills to master
- Deep expertise in Linux systems, networking, and cloud services, but with a strong shift towards automation (IaC, scripting) and a focus on developer enablement rather than just system maintenance. Experience with CI/CD is crucial.
You're ready to move on when
- Has moved beyond manual server configuration to using tools like Ansible or Terraform extensively.
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of the software development lifecycle and developer needs.
- Has experience managing production cloud environments at scale.
