- Independently managing day-to-day array operations, resolving P2/P3 incidents, basic SAN zoning, and initial scripting for automation.
You're ready to move on when
- Consistently resolves routine storage incidents without escalation.
- Successfully completes assigned project tasks with minimal supervision.
- Proactively identifies and addresses minor capacity or performance issues.
- Can clearly explain basic storage concepts and our environment to new starters.

Senior Systems Administrator (with Storage Specialisation)
3-5 yearsSkills to master
- Deep understanding of server-side storage integration (OS, virtualisation), advanced troubleshooting across the stack, and contributing to infrastructure design.
You're ready to move on when
- Regularly takes the lead on multi-component infrastructure troubleshooting.
- Has a strong grasp of how applications interact with storage at the OS/VM level.
- Can design and implement server-side storage configurations (e.g., LVM, multipathing).
- Is often consulted by other teams for storage-related advice.

Cloud Operations Engineer (with Storage Focus)
3-4 yearsSkills to master
- Managing cloud object/block/file storage, implementing hybrid cloud solutions, and automating cloud storage operations.
You're ready to move on when
- Proficient in managing storage services in at least one major public cloud (AWS, Azure).
- Has implemented and managed data replication or tiering between on-prem and cloud storage.
- Can troubleshoot cloud storage access and performance issues.
- Understands cloud cost models related to storage.
