- Mastering strategic technical problem-solving, influencing product roadmap, mentoring junior SAs, and demonstrating leadership on complex, high-value deals. You'd be showing you can operate at a higher level before getting the title.
You're ready to move on when
- Consistently exceeding individual technical win rate targets and contributing to significant deal closures.
- Successfully mentoring and developing 2-3 junior SAs to promotion readiness.
- Leading significant cross-functional initiatives that improve SA team efficiency or effectiveness.
- Proactively identifying market trends and proposing strategic adjustments to the SA leadership team.

Manager, Solutions Architecture (Internal Promotion)
2-4 years as an SA ManagerSkills to master
- Excelling at people management, performance reviews, team development, and operational oversight for a smaller team. You'd be proving your leadership chops before taking on a larger remit.
You're ready to move on when
- Achieving high team engagement and low attrition rates.
- Successfully hitting team technical win rate targets and managing resource allocation effectively.
- Demonstrating strong coaching skills and developing team members' capabilities.

Director of Solutions Architecture (External Hire)
Coming from a similar Director-level role at a competitor or a related technology company.Skills to master
- Bringing a proven track record of leading and scaling technical pre-sales organisations, deep market knowledge, and a strong network. You'd be expected to hit the ground running with a strategic vision.
You're ready to move on when
- Demonstrable experience of leading a team of 10+ SAs and managing budgets of £250K+.
- Documented success in driving technical win rates and revenue growth in previous roles.
- Strong leadership references and a clear strategic vision for building and scaling a technical pre-sales function.
- Deep understanding of our target market, customer profiles, and competitive landscape.
