- Deep operational knowledge of customs clearance processes, managing client relationships, and understanding the commercial pressures of the logistics industry. You'd need to translate that external perspective into an internal corporate compliance role.

- You've managed a team of customs entry writers or operations staff.
- You've been responsible for client accounts and ensuring their compliance.
- You have a strong network within the customs and logistics community.
- You can demonstrate how your external experience translates to internal risk management and cost savings.

- Expertise in international trade law, sanctions, and regulatory frameworks. You'd need to develop a more operational understanding of supply chain and business processes to move into an in-house management role.
