- Successfully led 2-3 major trade optimisation or compliance programmes from inception to completion.
- Consistently provided strategic advice that directly impacted business decisions, not just compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior team members effectively.
- Proven track record of building strong relationships with cross-functional directors and VPs.

2-4 years in previous roleSkills to master
- Managing a team of trade professionals, owning a specific regional or functional trade strategy, accountability for team performance and budget, and driving operational execution. You'd have already been leading people and managing a P&L.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully managed a team of 5+ trade professionals, achieving high performance and retention.
- Owned a significant portion of the trade budget and demonstrated fiscal responsibility.
- Developed and implemented a regional or functional trade strategy that delivered measurable business impact.
- Consistently resolved complex team and stakeholder conflicts with positive outcomes.

Head of Trade (from a smaller company)
Varies, but typically 5-10 years in that roleSkills to master
- Broad understanding of all trade functions, ability to operate with limited resources, strong entrepreneurial drive, and experience building a trade function from the ground up. The challenge here is scaling up to our size and complexity.

- Successfully built and managed a trade function for a growing company, demonstrating scalability.
- Developed and implemented comprehensive trade compliance programmes across multiple jurisdictions.
