- Leading complex projects end-to-end, mentoring junior staff, developing robust business cases, and beginning to influence cross-functional teams. You'd have started managing smaller budgets and external vendors.
You're ready to move on when
- Successfully delivered multiple large-scale energy efficiency projects (e.g., £250K+ CapEx) with verified savings.
- Consistently sought out for advice by property teams and junior engineers.
- Demonstrated ability to present compelling business cases to senior management and secure project approvals.
- Proactively identified and resolved significant energy-related issues across a portfolio.

Energy Manager (External - Large Multi-Site Organisation)
Coming from a similar role, usually 2-4 years in that specific management position.Skills to master
- Managing energy operations for a large portfolio, overseeing a team, handling significant budgets, and dealing with complex procurement and regulatory environments. You'd be bringing a proven track record of leadership and results.
You're ready to move on when
- Managed an energy budget of at least £500K annually and delivered measurable savings.
- Directly managed a team of 5+ energy professionals.
- Experience with a diverse portfolio of commercial or industrial properties.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes and drive change.

Consulting Lead (Energy & Sustainability)
4-6 years in a senior consulting role, leading client engagements.Skills to master
- Client relationship management, strategic advisory on energy and sustainability, project delivery for multiple clients, and often team leadership within project structures. You'd be used to fast-paced, high-impact work.

- Led major energy strategy or decarbonisation projects for large corporate clients.
- Strong track record of developing and selling energy-related solutions.
- Excellent presentation and client-facing skills.
- Experience managing project teams and delivering against tight deadlines.
