Why this is a match, not an assessment
The tool asks you for one thing: the role you do. It does not ask what you can do, how long you have done it, or how well. So the result cannot be a reading of your competence, because none of the inputs are about you. It is a reading of the role you named, and specifically of the qualification the record says that role maps to.
That distinction is the whole point, and we hold it deliberately. Telling someone their experience is "closest to" a qualification is a useful, honest prompt about where to look. Telling them they have already met most of it would be a claim we have no evidence for, because we never measured them. So the page frames it as a match to aim at, and never as ground you have already covered.
Who decides whether experience counts
There is a real process for turning experience into credit, and it has a name: recognition of prior learning. It is a formal assessment against the qualification’s own criteria, and the body that runs it and decides the outcome is the awarding organisation, not Zavmo. We are not an awarding body, we do not sit on that decision, and nothing on this page moves it.
So this tool does the honest, tractable half: it shows you the regulated qualification your experience points at, so you know what you would be putting yourself forward for. Whether any of what you already do earns credit toward it is the awarding organisation’s call, assessed to their rules, and we say that plainly rather than let a match read as a shortcut it is not.
What the match can and cannot tell you
The parts that come straight from the register are shown as written: the qualification’s title, its level and the awarding organisation. The part that is softer, and labelled as such, is the mapping from the role to the qualification. It is a nearest-neighbour match through the National Occupational Standards, inferred by Zavmo, and each one carries a confidence band so a weaker match cannot pass for a strong one.
The record is UK-first and it is not complete. If we cannot place the role you name confidently, you get an honest empty state and a route to browse or to find a qualification by name, rather than the nearest thing dressed up as a match. And where we hold the role but no confident qualification match for it yet, we say that too, because a gap in our record is not the same as a role that leads nowhere.
