About Zavmo

What we are, how we think, and why we built this

Zavmo is an AI-powered adaptive learning platform built on the principle that learning should be as unique as you are. We deliver personalised, evidence-based learning experiences mapped to OFQUAL qualifications and National Occupational Standards (NOS), grounded in decades of neuroscience and learning pedagogy research.

Unlike one-size-fits-all platforms, Zavmo's proprietary 4D Process uses 12 Virtual Characters and an 18-agent AI architecture to adapt every learning interaction to your cognitive style, working memory capacity, and professional goals. Whether you're a working professional seeking a nationally recognised qualification, an L&D leader building workforce capability, or a learner who's always struggled with traditional training, Zavmo meets you exactly where you are.

Grounded in: Bloom (1956), Vygotsky (1978), Knowles (1984), Sweller et al. (2019), Immordino-Yang (2016)
Most e-learning platforms deliver the same content to everyone and hope something sticks. The industry average completion rate is around 4–15%. Zavmo achieves 85% completion because we do something fundamentally different: we start with your brain.

Here's what the research shows. Karpicke & Roediger (2008) demonstrated that retrieval practice outperforms passive re-reading by 50% for long-term retention. Sweller et al. (2019) established that cognitive load management is critical to effective instructional design. Zavmo's architecture implements both principles at scale, in real time, for every individual learner.

The practical differences are significant:
  • LinkedIn Learning: video courses, 4–15% completion, no formal qualifications
  • Generic LMS: static content, compliance-focused, no adaptation
  • Zavmo: OFQUAL-regulated pathways, 85% completion, neurodiversity-inclusive, cognitive-adaptive AI
Zavmo is designed for anyone who has ever felt let down by traditional learning. Specifically:
  • Working professionals seeking OFQUAL-regulated qualifications without disrupting work
  • Neurodivergent learners with ADHD, dyslexia, or autism who need content adapted to how their brain actually works
  • L&D Directors and CHROs who need measurable workforce capability linked to NOS and apprenticeship levy compliance
  • Compliance leads needing audit-ready, xAPI-tracked learning records
  • Anyone who learns better through conversation than passive video-watching

If you've ever started an online course and not finished it, Zavmo was built with you in mind.
Yes. Zavmo is a UK-based platform, built and operated by Iridescent Technology Ltd. Our qualifications framework is built on OFQUAL-regulated Learning Specifications and UK National Occupational Standards. We are fully GDPR-compliant, with all data processed within UK/EU infrastructure.

We are actively expanding to Australia in 2026, adapting our platform to the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and VET Training Packages. Other English-speaking markets will follow.

The 4D Process

How Zavmo learns about you — and how you learn with Zavmo

The 4D Process is Zavmo's proprietary learning methodology — developed to translate 30 years of L&D knowledge and cutting-edge neuroscience research into a practical, scalable learning system:
  • Discover: Zavmo's AI assesses your cognitive style, working memory preferences, and existing skill levels against National Occupational Standards. This is your learning baseline.
  • Discuss: One of 12 specialist Virtual Characters engages you in a learning conversation matched to your cognitive profile and the content you need to master.
  • Deliver: Adaptive content is delivered in the format and pace your brain responds to best — grounded in cognitive load theory (Sweller et al., 2019) and Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development (Vygotsky, 1978).
  • Demonstrate: You prove genuine competency through application and evidence-gathering — not by clicking through slides. Results are validated against OFQUAL criteria and recorded via xAPI.
Each of Zavmo's 12 Virtual Characters embodies a distinct teaching approach, matched to the full spectrum of cognitive diversity. Gardner (1983) identified that humans have multiple intelligences — not one universal way of learning. Our characters reflect this.

Some characters favour structured, step-by-step progression for learners who need clear scaffolding. Others use narrative and storytelling for learners whose brains respond to contextual information. Some employ visual demonstration; others use Socratic questioning. The AI selects and adapts character behaviour in real time based on your learning responses, memory retrieval patterns (Karpicke & Roediger, 2008), and engagement signals.

You're not just talking to a chatbot. You're learning with an expert who understands how your specific brain processes information.
MindPalace is your personal learning record within Zavmo — a living portfolio of everything you've learnt, demonstrated, and evidenced. It tracks every competency statement validated against NOS, every xAPI learning event, and every qualification unit progressed.

Unlike a simple certificate store, MindPalace is a portable evidence portfolio that belongs to you. It's downloadable, auditable, and accepted by OFQUAL-approved awarding bodies as supporting evidence for qualification claims. This reflects the evidence-portfolio approach advocated by Black & Wiliam (2009) — assessment that genuinely reflects what you can do, not just what you remember on a given day.
This is one of the most important questions in AI-powered learning — and one we've invested heavily in solving. Zavmo uses an 18-agent AI validation architecture built on Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) principles (Lewis et al., 2024) and the ReACT reasoning pattern (Yao et al., 2023).

Every piece of learning content is grounded in authoritative sources: OFQUAL qualification specifications, National Occupational Standards, and verified subject matter expertise. The validation layer cross-checks AI outputs against these sources before they reach the learner. Ji et al. (2023) identified hallucination as the central risk in language model deployment — our architecture is specifically designed to eliminate it in a learning context.

Learning Specification Triangulation means every content claim is validated against three independent data sources before delivery.

Qualifications & Compliance

OFQUAL, NOS, apprenticeship levy, and what you'll actually earn

Yes — but let's be precise. Zavmo is not an awarding body. We create personalised learning pathways mapped to OFQUAL-approved Learning Specifications and validated against National Occupational Standards. The actual qualifications are awarded by OFQUAL-approved awarding bodies, including City & Guilds and Pearson.

Think of Zavmo as your personal learning coach and evidence-builder: we prepare you thoroughly, validate your competency against the official criteria, and generate your evidence portfolio. The awarding body then certifies your achievement. This is the same model used by any quality apprenticeship programme.

We currently support qualifications from Level 2 through Level 6 across Business Administration, Leadership & Management, Customer Service, Digital Skills, Project Management, and HR. Level 7 (postgraduate) is planned for Q2 2026.
National Occupational Standards (NOS) are the UK's official benchmarks for workplace competence — defining exactly what someone needs to know, understand, and be able to do in any given role. They are developed and maintained by Sector Skills Councils and approved by the devolved UK governments.

Every piece of learning Zavmo delivers is mapped to relevant NOS. This means your learning is always connected to real-world job performance, not abstract theory. It also ensures that when you demonstrate competency in Zavmo, that competency is recognised and valued by employers across the UK — because it's measured against the same national standard.

For enterprise clients, NOS alignment means learning investment directly maps to measurable workforce capability improvement.
Yes. Zavmo's Enterprise tier is built with apprenticeship levy optimisation in mind. All learning content maps to approved apprenticeship standards and National Occupational Standards, with full xAPI audit trails generating the compliance documentation required for ESFA reporting.

Many UK organisations contribute millions to the levy annually yet fail to draw it down effectively. Zavmo helps L&D and HR teams build structured, evidenced learning programmes that meet the off-the-job training requirements, track progress against End Point Assessment criteria, and generate the portfolio evidence required by awarding bodies.

The April 2026 Growth and Skills Levy transition creates new opportunities — our team can guide enterprise clients through the changes and how Zavmo supports the updated framework.
Experience API (xAPI) is the industry-standard protocol for recording and sharing learning data. Every interaction in Zavmo generates an xAPI statement: what you learnt, when, for how long, and to what level of competency.

Why it matters: for individuals, it creates a portable, verifiable learning record that belongs to you — not the platform. For organisations, xAPI data provides the audit trail needed for OFQUAL compliance, IQA/EQA audits, and Kirkpatrick Level 3 and 4 impact measurement (Kirkpatrick & Kirkpatrick, 2016).

Your MindPalace generates a complete xAPI learning record, downloadable at any time, accepted as evidence by OFQUAL-approved awarding bodies.

Neurodiversity & Learning Support

How Zavmo adapts to every brain — not the other way around

Neurodiversity-inclusive design isn't a feature we added on — it's the foundation Zavmo was built on. Approximately 1 in 7 people in the UK is neurodivergent, yet most learning platforms are designed for a neurotypical minority and leave everyone else to cope.

Zavmo specifically supports learners with ADHD, dyslexia, and autism through:
  • Cognitive load management: Content chunked according to working memory capacity (Baddeley & Hitch, 1974; Sweller et al., 2019)
  • Flexible pacing: No time pressure; learn at your natural rhythm
  • Multiple modalities: Characters deliver content visually, narratively, or structurally depending on your learning profile
  • Emotional regulation awareness: Grounded in affective neuroscience research (Immordino-Yang, 2016) — the platform recognises when engagement drops and adapts
  • Dyslexia-aware typography and layout throughout the interface

The research is clear: neurodivergent learners often possess exceptional capabilities — spatial intelligence, creative problem-solving, systematic analysis. The problem has never been the learner. (Armstrong, 2010)
Absolutely not. Zavmo's AI adapts to how you actually learn — not to a label. The Discover phase gathers your cognitive profile through natural interaction, not a clinical questionnaire. You never need to disclose a diagnosis to receive a fully adaptive learning experience.

If you do wish to share information about your learning preferences or specific needs, the platform uses that context to refine its approach. But the adaptation happens regardless — because we believe every brain deserves a learning environment built for it.
Bloom's Taxonomy (Bloom, 1956; revised by Anderson & Krathwohl, 2001) is the cornerstone framework for understanding cognitive progression in learning. It defines six levels: Remember, Understand, Apply, Analyse, Evaluate, and Create.

Most corporate training stops at the bottom two — memorising facts and passing a comprehension test. This is precisely why it fails to produce behaviour change in the workplace.

Zavmo's assessment engine works on a seven-level scale derived from Bloom (adding "Teach" as the pinnacle of mastery), using two-level validation: first you self-rate your competency, then the AI asks probing questions requiring evidence. The system always teaches one level above your current validated competency — reflecting Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development (Vygotsky, 1978) — so you're always challenged without being overwhelmed.

Enterprise & L&D Teams

For CHROs, L&D Directors, and Compliance Leads

Zavmo integrates via standard LMS APIs and xAPI (Tin Can) data streams. Team and Enterprise tiers include full LMS integration support. We work with all major UK HR and LMS systems.

For organisations preferring to keep Zavmo as a standalone learning environment, our admin dashboard provides complete visibility of team progress, competency validation, qualification status, and learning analytics — all exportable for your internal reporting.

Enterprise clients receive dedicated technical onboarding, SSO configuration, and a named implementation partner.
Zavmo is built for the Kirkpatrick model of training evaluation (Kirkpatrick & Kirkpatrick, 2016). The platform generates data at all four levels:
  • Level 1 (Reaction): Real-time satisfaction signals captured during learning interactions
  • Level 2 (Learning): Pre/post competency assessments validated against NOS
  • Level 3 (Behaviour): Manager-verified competency demonstrations and workplace application evidence
  • Level 4 (Results): Qualification completion rates, capability uplift metrics, and levy utilisation data

Enterprise clients report an average 327% ROI, driven by reduced qualification costs, improved completion rates, and measurable capability uplift directly linked to business performance.
Yes. We offer 30-day pilot programmes for teams of 10–50 learners, including full admin dashboard access, LMS integration, analytics reporting, and dedicated onboarding support. Enterprise prospects receive a custom proof-of-concept programme tailored to specific use cases and qualification requirements.

Book a conversation with our enterprise team to discuss a pilot structure that works for your organisation.
All UK statutory compliance requirements are built in as standard: GDPR, Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Equality & Diversity, and Safeguarding. Content is updated automatically when regulations change — you don't need to manage version control.

Completion is tracked with certificates and full audit trails via xAPI. For regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, social care), sector-specific compliance frameworks are available as part of our industry solution packages.

Zavmo is compliant with ISO 42001 for AI governance — important for organisations with their own AI policies and procurement requirements.

Technical & Security

Data protection, accessibility, and platform reliability

Zavmo is ISO 27001 certified and fully GDPR compliant. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit using AES-256 encryption. We undergo annual third-party security audits. Your learning data belongs to you — we never sell it to third parties, and it is never used to train our AI without explicit consent.

Enterprise clients can opt for dedicated cloud instances. All infrastructure is hosted within UK/EU data centres.
Yes. Zavmo works seamlessly across desktop, tablet, and mobile. The platform is fully responsive. Your progress syncs automatically across all devices, so you can learn in 10-minute bursts on your phone or in a focused two-hour session at your desk. Pashler et al. (2007) found that spaced, distributed learning significantly outperforms massed study — short mobile sessions are genuinely effective learning, not a compromise.
Accessibility is fundamental to Zavmo's mission. The platform is built to WCAG 2.1 AA standards, with full screen reader compatibility, keyboard navigation, and resizable text. We provide dyslexia-friendly fonts, high-contrast mode, and adjustable reading speeds throughout.

Zavmo is tested regularly with neurodivergent users and accessibility specialists. If you have a specific accessibility requirement not covered here, please contact our team — we will accommodate you.
